Free National Poem Writing Contest 2023
The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, in partnership with PMNCH, is organizing a co-branded event on June 20, 2023, with a focus on the health and well-being of adolescents and young people. This highly anticipated event, centered around the theme "Health of Youth; Wealth of Nation," aims to raise awareness and address key issues affecting the younger generation's physical and mental health. As part of this initiative, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in collaboration with MyGov, is excited to announce an engaging online competition that will encourage adolescents and youth aged between 10-24 years to unleash their creativity through poetry.
Competition Details
This national-level competition offers a platform for aspiring poets and writers from schools and colleges across India to showcase their talent and contribute to the discourse on adolescent health. Participants are invited to explore four vital thematic areas:
- Mental health issues among adolescents and youth: Through poetic expression, shed light on the challenges and experiences faced by young people regarding mental well-being. Address topics such as stress, anxiety, depression, and the importance of seeking help and support.
- Good Nutrition: Highlight the significance of healthy eating habits, balanced diets, and the role of nutrition in promoting overall well-being among adolescents and youth. Emphasize the benefits of consuming nutritious foods and the prevention of diet-related health issues.
- Prevention of injuries and violence: Use the power of poetry to raise awareness about the prevention of injuries and violence among adolescents and youth. Discuss topics such as road safety, self-defense, bullying, and the promotion of peaceful and non-violent environments.
- Awareness of Reproductive and Sexual Health: Contribute to the dissemination of accurate information and understanding of reproductive and sexual health among adolescents and youth. Address topics like safe sex practices, consent, reproductive rights, and the importance of comprehensive sexual education.
The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare recognizes the significance of young voices in shaping policies and programs related to adolescent health. All entries received from states and union territories will be carefully reviewed by a National Committee constituted by the Adolescent Health Division, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. This committee, consisting of experts and professionals in the field, will select the most compelling and impactful entries in each of the identified thematic categories.
Technical Parameters
Participation in this competition is open to adolescents and youth aged between 10-24 years, residing anywhere in India. To ensure fairness and uniformity, the following technical parameters must be adhered to:
- Poems must have an engaging and relevant title, captivating readers from the start. The content should not exceed 15 lines in length (excluding the title). Entries exceeding the word limit will unfortunately be disqualified.
- The text should be written in a readable font, either in Hindi or English, ensuring that it conveys the intended message effectively. A font type of Times New Roman and a font size of 12 are required. Failure to adhere to these specifications may result in disqualification.
- Participants are required to submit their poems in a clear, readable, and downloadable PDF format. This will allow for convenient evaluation and assessment by the esteemed National Committee.
Gratification
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, along with its esteemed partners, aims to recognize and reward the creativity and dedication of the participants. The following gratifications await:
- The best five entries, selected by the National Committee, will receive a delightful surprise gift as a token of appreciation for their outstanding contribution.
